Whole Wheat Burritos, Food Shopping

I still had 3 of those "sausages" left over from the dirty rice. All I could think of to make with them was burritos. I only needed one though so now I have 2 left! They are so good. I need more ideas. Maybe I'll make a nice mexican breakfast with them on saturday. The burritos were filled with a mix of garlic, shallots, jalapeno's, carrots, seitan sausage, sliced tomatoes and black beans with a mix of spices. I think I used cayenne, tumeric and cumin. Also short grain brown rice. On top is a simple guac. Avocado, salt and lime juice. I usually use white tortilla's exclusively. But I'm trying to be healthier so I bought the whole wheat ones today. I'm glad I did. I forgot how much I like whole wheat products. (except whole wheat pasta, gross).

I went food shopping today. This is why.

We had nothing. Except Peter's beer, his yogurts and a few odds and ends. My list was huge.

Here is everything. Almost. What you don't see are in the drawers. Carrots, onions, apples etc and our case of Smart Water. CB was very interested in the butternut squash.

Mmmm, burritos. You really like those sausages, huh? I'm not much for faux meats, but maybe a spicy sausage thingy would be pretty tasty. Maybe you could use them in a spaghetti sauce.

You did great shopping! I love to grocery shop. Saturday I went to the farmers market, Whole Foods, the asian market, and my neighborhood market. My kitchen looked just like your before, and now just like yours after!

I don't think we have those sausages in Toronto, but I'll keep my eyes peeled. The burritos looks great as does the good haul at the grocery store.

Your burritos look good! I love fresh avocado. I agree with the whole wheat foods, I like them but do not like the whole wheat pasta. :P

I had to laugh at your empty fridge! Mine never gets that low because my roommate's food is always stuffed in there (meat & dairy), but he is never here and it always goes bad! It's always in the way though, since I'll get yelled at if I throw it out, so it looks like I have tons of food, but I actually don't!

Yummy! Your full fridge looks so good! Good enough for CB to check it out! Lol! I love Whole Foods and your counter tops look like mine after a spree there! :P I have those same exact beans and sea salt. Lol! It's funny to see them on other people's blog like this. I love peeking in! Lol!

So for dinner, I'd like linguine please. Lol!! ;)

yum!! I just tried those sausages on pizza and it was great! I cumbled them and fried them in just a bit of olive oil... even my meat eating teenager didn't complain!

I just love looking at your grocery haul. (Especially since I'm upstate and have Whole Foods envy. But I'll be in NYC for a week soon, so I'll get my fill!)
Everything looks great. When my cats do that, I threaten to close the refrigerator door on them!

I'm not into faux meat usually, but sausage is always good! :)

I just did a big shopping too, and I get home and realize that I forgot to get several things. D'oh!

(it looks like we picked up a lot of the same stuff...black beans, molasses, sea salt...great shopping lists think alike or something...hehe.)

I do enjoy white tortillas but wheat is tasty enough, so we try to keep those in our fridge. It's either much lower in carbs or fats, one of those pesky things, as well. Now I want to make mine in such perfect rolls like yours!

I was looking at the photo of the nearly-empty fridge, thinking, "What? I see beer in there. What's wrong? What's missing?"

Yum! Looks good. I actually don't mind the whole wheat tortillas but I do prefer the white ones. Your fridge looked just like mine a week ago! It's so nice to see mine stocked again.

Massachusetts Judge Settles Dispute by Ruling Burrito is Not a Sandwich

WORCESTER, Mass. — Is a burrito a sandwich?

The Panera Bread Co. bakery-and-cafe chain says yes. But a judge said no, ruling against Panera in its bid to prevent a Mexican restaurant from moving into the same shopping mall.

Panera has a clause in its lease that prevents the White City Shopping Center in Shrewsbury from renting to another sandwich shop. Panera tried to invoke that clause to stop the opening of an Qdoba Mexican Grill.

But Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke cited Webster's Dictionary as well as testimony from a chef and a former high-ranking federal agriculture official in ruling that Qdoba's burritos and other offerings are not sandwiches.

The difference, the judge ruled, comes down to two slices of bread versus one tortilla
