Recent obsessions.

note...i'm in the process of changing the look of my blog around. it will probably change a few time until it's how i imagine it to be.

Toasted Bagel w. Earth Balance Bagel and Homemade Iced Latte

I'm all out of Earth Balance Buttery Spread and it's a good thing. I've been eating this breakfast non-stop! It is not healthy. My pants are tight. I will not by more Earth Balance until I drop the first 10 of 30 pounds or more that I'd like to lose this year. It going to be hard passing up the buttery spread!

Rice and Beans w. Avocado and Lime

I was thinking about the days way back when I would make rice and beans about 3 times a week. I'm rediscovering my old love. I've also learned again that less is more. Instead of the wide array of spices that I add to the dish I only add cumin now...and maybe a bit of paprika because I can't not put it in everything.

Linguini w. Almond, Leek and Lemon Sauce

This is a work in progress. My taste buds have been craving lemon lately so I set out to make a lemon pasta sauce. I liked it. Peter wished it was a thicker sauce. We both agree that it is missing something. We just can't figure out what. It's a bit sharp tasting.

maybe some artichokes and red peppers?

Good luck with the weight loss! I can't have EB in the house. Or vegenaise unless I buy a small jar and cut it with a low fat "mayo" (that works well for me).. I think Bryanna has a butter extender recipe in one of her books. I've never tried it, but should because I cut the vegenaise with her low fat mayo recipe.

I'm LOVING the new look of the blog - keep this layout!! :0)

Oooh, I'm obsessed with avocados too - you definitely have some delicious obsessions! As for the pasta dish, I second Mel's suggestion of artichokes and red peppers; and maybe even some sundried tomatoes?

I've never had Earth Balance out of fear that I might love it too much! Good luck giving it up. =)

Mmmm. Earth Balance. Yes, I am addicted too.

I think the "balance" in EB comes from its ability to add weight equal to how much is consumed.

Wow - everything in this post is making me hungry. Avocado, lemon linguine, bagels... Ok, I'm off to the kitchen!

I like the taste of Organic Smart Balance over EB, myself. I think it's not much less fattening but maybe a little? I, too, have been enjoying bagels almost EVERY DAY for bfast...something I never ever did pre-pregnancy.

you reminded me how much I want some rice and beans. too bad I can't get my hands on a decent avocado these day!

i always wondered where the B36 came from ;)

yes B36 is the apartment that i live and cook in. sadly we are thinking of moving to a 2 bedroom apartment sometime this year so the B36 apartment will live on in memory and my blog title.

Oh, now you are making me crave a bagel with earth balance... very bad. Oh, and I love the "B36" in your blog title... so cute. Just out of curiousity... does B36 have a special meaning to you? Was it a previous (or current) address?

adding avocado to rice and beans is a great idea. my husband loves that sort of thing. I think I will have to suggest it to him.
