Why can't chinese restaurants make there veggie fried rice like this. More veggies less rice? After a not so delicious chinese restaurant dinner the other night i've been craving that good chinese taste. Then after a day (today) of having an alien that is growing in my uterus dance and ram her baby ass against my insides all day I needed a comforting and healthy meal. Veggie Fried Rice MY Way was that meal. I feel a whole lot better even though that alien baby ass is still assaulting my insides.

What did you use for the sauce? If there's one thing I just can't seem to find a good recipe for, it's veggie fried rice. It's either way too dry or coated with a sickenly sweet sauce. Yours looks perfect.
More veggies is always better! That looks far better than any restaurant food.
I remember feeling the baby butt and also seeing it distort my belly! My doctor told me I could push on it and move it when I was uncomfortable. Maybe it will work for you, but Chase was far too stubborn to move.
oh my goodness, your picture is making my mouth water, i'm drooling here! what wilted greens did you use? oh so yummy looking.....

viv...all i use for the sauce is low sodium tamari mixed with a bit of arrowroot powder (or cornstarch) which makes it nice and thick.
atxvegn...i push the baby butt all the time...she is stubborn as well.
bethie...i used kale, broccoli, carrots, stringbeans, cashews, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes..Peter and I agree that the kale was the star of the whole dish..it added a great flavor.
Sorry to hear about your insides, I hope you get a break from that soon.... it's been a few years for me, but I remember those days. The chinese food looks delightful, now I've got a craving for it and I'm not even in your condition. :)
That rice does sound good. Chinese food from our little restaurant is one of those things that I often crave, and it's definitely convenient, but sometimes you don't ... respect yourself in the morning after one of those meals. For that reason your food looks SO much better. I'm sorry about your stubborn alien baby! But hey, you gave it spicy food- what do you expect? ;-)
Looks great, just how I like my fried rice. I think restaurants don't go veggie heavy is the cost.. and most patrons want the greasy crap.
I haven't made fried rice in a while, maybe I need to.. hehe
Baby is liking the food, I think.
hiya,
not sure where to put this comment but as i've sifted through your older posts, your dishes are absolutely mouthwatering... i'm sure you create lots of dishes yourself, but besides vwav, what cookbooks do you primarily use or give you inspiration?
bethie
hey bethie...thanks for all your comments! most of what i make is stuff i've made up or have been inspired by recipes in books, magazines, tv or other blogs that i read. as for cookbooks it varies...i look through vegan with a vengeance alot, vegan planet ( i think it's called), vegetarian planet and a bunch of others. it really just depends on what book catches my eye in my bookcase at the time. by far though vegan w.a. vengeance is my favorite. hope that helps.
